How Do I Build My Website?

To get started building your website, you need to ensure that you have the email Hostgator or your web hosting company sent you.


If you registered your domain name and purchased your web hosting with Hostgator you're one step ahead as you do not need to change your Name Servers.


If not you need to refer to the email your web hosting company sent you and look for the Name Servers section and copy the 2 Name Server entries and go to Manage Domain Names in your Domain Name account and paste in the Name Server entries.


It should register within 10-15 minutes.



But it can take up to 24-48 hours.



The next step is to once more, refer to your email from your web hosting company, and look for Cpanel login details.



Now copy and paste the cPanel address into your browser and copy and paste the login information into the login form.



Next, you will need to set up an email address for your domain for the Wordpress One Click Install.



Go to the eMail icon click on it and input a name for your email, like admin@yourdomain.com and type in a password.



If you are unsure of how to create a strong password, Google, password generators and generate a strong password that way.



You may want to use your computer's email client to read your website's email, click the option, and copy or print the information to input into your computer's email client.



Next, look for One Click Set Up or Softalicious App Installer and you'll want to install Wordpress. Make sure that you don't install Wordpress within a directory in your website, which means that the part of the form that displays your domain name, you need to leave it blank.



If you do install it to a directory not only will you have a hard time finding it no one else will be able to find it either?



Input your email address, an admin name or leave it as admin, and a password, and you're done.



Click the Install Wordpress button.



Now go to http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin, and input your admin name or just admin and your password.



You should be able to log into Wordpress.



The next step is to head over to Themeforest to choose a Wordpress theme so that you can start building your website.



Remember, if you choose a theme with a slider (image slide) all your images must all fit the sliders dimensions and may require extra work with a graphics program.



Themes on Themeforest range from US$10-US$60 and will give your website a professional appearance.



Download the zip file to your computer and then log into your website and go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > and choose the zip file > Upload.



Once it has uploaded you need to go to Appearance > Themes > find the name of your theme > Activate.



Once your theme has been activated it's just a matter of finding the name of the theme in your Wordpress menu and then clicking the form in the sidebar and inputting your website's information to create your website.



You may decide you want to start an email newsletter and collect email addresses.



For this, you will need a contact form.




A plugin such as Optimize Press or you may choose to sign up to an email marketing company like Getresponse.com and place a contact form on your website.



Both companies have detailed help and support sections to assist you with these options.
