Get Massive Traffic On Twitter And Grow Your Following

Use #Hashtags To Get More Engagement

Believe it or not, on Twitter, it's not about how many followers you have. It's the message. If 100 people agree with what you write, then that's 100 retweets. Depending on the message, a tweet can go viral. It's good to have a large follower base, but if you consistently post good content then your following will grow.

When you have a small following the one way to spread your message across the web is by using hashtags. Hashtags # are used on almost all social mediums. This includes Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Twitter's increase in characters per tweet means that you have 280 characters per tweet but this doesn't mean you should hashtag stuff as many hashtags as you can into one tweet. A tweet with valuable content with 3 hashtags is going to get more retweets than a tweet with a link and 15 hashtags. Having to search for the link amongst the slab of hashtags is something that most readers don't want to do.

A good rule of thumb is no more than 5 hashtags.

Use Lists

Some of the people you follow on Twitter won't be in your target market and may have followed you because they thought you might be in theirs. Or for whatever reason they follow you.

To group your target market, use Twitter's Lists. A list of Twitter users allows you to only view your target market's tweets and concentrate on their content to engage with them. You can have an unlimited amount of lists and you can create private or public lists. Create public lists and you can build a group that will potentially become a social hub.

Like Non-Followers Tweets

To get the attention of non-followers like their tweets. A like means come and take a look at my profile, whereas a retweet often means that you're interested in following the person.

Use Twitter Search To Find New Content

Twitter search has changed. Now you can search your niche keyword and find the top people to follow under the 'People' tab. If you're searching for videos or content to retweet, click the 'Top', 'Latest', or 'Video' tabs.

Tweet To Fellow Twitterers

Direct Messaging people will not get an influencer's attention and other Twitterers may ignore your DM as well. The solution is to tweet to them. This is similar to what Facebook encourages users to do. Use their username or Twitter handle so that it shows up in their notifications. Some people use this incorrectly and stuff Twitter handles into their tweets thinking they will get the attention of people. But this is generally ignored and their message doesn't go viral as they were hoping.

Pin A Tweet To The Top Of Your Newsfeed

If they read your pinned tweet it means they mean to take a good look at your profile and consider your offer. What it also means is that if they are not already following you they are considering following you.

Depending on the content of your pinned tweet, more information is usually better. If they are interested in your offer and you don't give them more information, they are likely to search elsewhere. It is best to link to a blog post or a squeeze page to keep their interest. If they are on your blog, they will read your posts. What you must make sure you do is give them an opportunity to submit their contact details so they can learn more about your business.

What your Twitter feed, blog, or contact form needs to do is help them solve their problems. If you are not helping them and your information is not useful, they are going to do the most predictable thing, and leave.
